Jordan Retros Shoes : Artists Consider Masculinity in Sports' At Wesleyan

Different artist represented in the exhibit is Shaun El C. Leonardo, whose "Bull in the  air jordan retros Ring" takes the form of an offbeat mobile, with 11 styrofoam heads encased in football helmets. Leonardo, 32, a former football player at Bowdoin University, said the work is based on a football drill, which is now banned at the high school and college level, in   nike air jordan retros which a coach places one player in the center of a ring, and then instructs all the other players to hit him as hard as they can, from all different angles.
" 'Bull in the Ring' … as the players were attacking or being attacked and exerting passion and emotion and pain, was supposed to form team morale and unity," he said. "But as I recollect, it served the opposite purpose, to isolate weak players in a test of prowess."
The New York-based artist considers the   jordan retros shoes  drill a metaphor for societal expectations of manhood.
"In our daily lives, in fatherhood, at school, in the workplace and the military, we are asked to be part of a team, to believe in and to welcome brotherhood. But at the same time, there is this need to exhibit your superiority over everyone else to prove your masculinity," he said. "There's a duality present. We must belong to a group, but also isolate ourselves and be a leader."

Leonardo will attend the exhibit's opening reception
The exhibit will be accompanied on Sept. 27 by an evening of films by conceptual artist Matthew Barney, the 42-minute "Cremaster
cheap air jordans  4" (1995) and feature-length "Drawing Restraint 9" (2005). "His films are all about atheltic prowess and aggressiveness," said Tatge. "They fit in well with these works.
Tatge hopes that the athletic theme will attract a diverse crowd. "This is a good exhibit for Connecticut, the home of ESPN," she said. "We hope people come to the gallery, not just people interested in art but also interested in sports, who have never been here before."
